Finalizing a new character crashes the server

Description: When finalizing a new character in the character creator, it crashes the game (and server) instantly, but the character is there and usable when logging in after the crash

items affected/used: Characters, Character creator

how to replicate: Make a new character and hit the finalize button

EDIT: It appears that there is a chance that after you logged in after the crash, the character IS NOT THERE and it wont let you make a new one

this has been fixed ( i think )
offending code has been rewritten, but i havent actually tested it yet.

this has been revisited and seems to be working correctly now.
will need a bit more testing to verify.
